Making the change from carpet to brand new hardwood flooring is exciting! We Removed all existing carpet and installed new 3 1/4 white oak hardwood flooring, including new oak stairs and risers. We also installed new baseboard and quarter around.
Not only did they do a fantastic job, the crew showed up and worked hard when they said they would, and the attention to detail is amazing.
Refinished existing white oak hardwood floor, wash the wood with water to open the wood grain, apply Pickled Oak stain color from Minwax and apply 4 coats of Loba water based satin finish using Dustless System Machine.

He hustled to get us into his schedule, was price competitive (not the cheapest but also far from the most expensive), and completed the work with the highest quality. This included a very challenging herringbone pattern floor for an extremely small space and he even moved baseboard around and replaced cedar in the closet to make sure that the finished product was up to expectations. The job involved refinishing and repairing 800 sqft of teak parquet floor tiles, sanding the entire area (removing the existing ebony-colored stain), replacing missing and damaged wood in 10sqft area with custom-cut oak, and finally applying 3 coats of polyurethane oil-based satin finish.
The previous property owner hired a BAD flooring company and regretted it. This other company stained the wood improperly and then resorted to covering up the beautiful teak with a dark ebony stain. We assumed that we were stuck with a black floor. However, Marian used a small sander in a closet to show how the ebony stain could be removed, without removing more than maybe a millimeter off of the delicate quarter-inch parquet tiles. He answered all of my questions and he understood and followed all of my special requests for the job.
The work was excellent and service was prompt and friendly. There are probably companies out there that will do a hardwood refinishing job for a cheaper rate, but my experience is that it pays to get a real expert like Marian.
After 2 months of searching we found Marian from Midwest Hardwood Floor, our designer referred him to us. We call him for a estimate and he showed up to the door in the same day. We explained very detailed what we are looking for and after couple days he agree to take over the project. Was not a regular job for him but after 3 weeks he deliver exactly what we wanted. Marian is very knowledgeable, focus on details, trustworthy,professional and very, very good at his profession. The white oak design, borders and the stairs has precise cuts and measurements, even our architect was amazed. Over-all he did an awesome job and i would recommend him to anyone, and in fact, already have. I am absolutely thrilled with the work. Do not hesitate to use him.
We had several hardwood floor area problems -- one long, deep scratch and another area that was cupping due to intermittent water damage. Midwest Hardwood quickly gave me an appointment time for a home visit and estimate; Cosmin came exactly on time and studied the areas, giving me great information about different approaches to repairing the damage, with pros and cons. The next day the central office sent me price quotes for the work, and both quotes were very reasonable for the size of the job. I found Midwest Hardwood to be service-minded, responsive, informative, and reasonably priced.
Absolutely phenomenal work - Marian is beyond professional and dependable. Took his time to test the floors before signing up and he did a thorough walk through of the new apartment. Floors were very dirty and some mild water damage. His team made these beautiful heather grey floors look truly brand new. Ultimate service showed up early and spent time walking through after to make sure I was happy. Zero wall scuffs. Highly recommend Marian and his team if you are debating floor cleaning with a refinish! Hands down.
After purchasing our condo we noticed that the hardwood floors weren't in great condition and the floor was very very creaky when walking. The creaking suggested a poorly installed subfloor which would require a new flooring installation, not just a sand and restain of the original hardwood floor. We got three quotes for this job and Midwest Hardwood Floors had the most competitive pricing and flexible timeline.
The team, led by Cosmin, did a stunning job installing new subflooring and hardwood floors in a professional and timely manner. Not only do the floors not creak at all when walking, but they look beautiful! It is worth noting that my husband and I do not live in this condo full-time but Marian and Cosmin were extremely flexible with us to set up an arrangement that worked around our schedule. With us being remote during the installation, Cosmin texted us pictures and updates nearly every day to let us know when his team arrived and what they had done that day. When it came to picking stain remotely, Cosmin stained small patches of the floor with every stain were were interested in (we were deciding between 4 different colors!) and then sent pictures and called us so that we could decide. This was awesome because only looking at the stain colors online made it seem like the four stain colors we chose were nearly indistinguishable. However, on the new floors with the sun hitting the floors, there were clear and obvious differences between the stains. We would've never known if Cosmin didn't suggest we test each of them.
Overall, we could not be happier with our floors and the entire installation process. The team was professional, completed the job in a timely manner, was very communicative, and the value was great. Would highly recommend!
